Nursing Home Support Scheme
Payable by the Health Service Executive (HSE), Nursing Home Support Scheme helps those eligible to pay for residential care in a nursing home.
Those in need of nursing home care may apply for the Nursing Home Support Scheme. The application process will involve an assessment of the applicant's means or income, and an assessment of their dependency or illness. In addition, the applicant’s dependency will be assessed to determine if you qualify for Nursing Home Support Scheme payment.

Tax Relief on Medical Expenses including Nursing Home Care and Home Care Services (relevant to our Independent Living Apartment Residents).
Tax relief at the marginal rate of tax is available to those who pay certain medical expenses. These medical expenses may be for themselves of for their relatives, or can also include a relative by marriage (refer to section on Person Taking Care of an Incapacitated Individual at revenue web site). Such medical expenses include nursing home care if required, and also home care services for Residents living in our Independent Living apartments. Also included are doctors and consultant fees, certain items of expenditure in respect of medical/surgical equipment/appliances, diagnostic procedures, physiotherapy or similar treatment, certain non-routine dental treatment and prescribed drugs/medicines. The relief is granted at the highest rate of tax at which the taxpayer is chargeable for income tax in the year of the claim.
